Hong Kong’s new cash for residency scheme receives 251 applications by end of May

//Willis Fu Yiu-wai, a senior immigration consultant at Goldmax Associates, said the amount applicants needed to put in and a seven-year investment lock-up might be less attractive than other schemes, such as that offered by the United States. “HK$30 million is not a small amount for investment migration, and HK$30 million locked up for seven years for residency is a bit too long, which prompts people to move elsewhere for investments like America’s EB-5 immigration programme,” he added. The EB-5 programme allows investors, their spouses and unmarried children under 21 to apply for a green card if they invest US$800,000 in

//本港環凱移民資深移民顧問傅耀緯指,新計劃對申請人的加拿大語言基準(CLB)要求僅需4級,約等同IELTS的聆聽4.5分、說話4分等程度,「即基本能說、聽及寫,但遠未到及格水平,門檻可謂相當之低」。且對比同類移居計劃,加拿大未有要求申請人需持有註冊護士資格,尤有利於目前在香港安老院中工作的登記護士、護理員去申請。 港移民顧問:門檻相當低 傅耀緯續指,申請人需已獲當地僱主聘用,以同步入紙申請工作簽證及永居權(PR)。薪酬方面,若持註冊護士資格,服務私人客戶的時薪可達每小時40至50加元(285港元);若無註冊護士資格,在安老院擔任護理員或助護,時薪約為20至30加元。// 資料來源:https://www.stheadline.com/article/3351105

Number of Hongkongers applying for Canadian open work permits drops by 50% amid ‘gloomy’ job market

//Willis Fu Yiu-wai,  a Senior Immigration Consultant at Goldmax Associates, partly attributed the drop in work permit applications to Canada’s gloomy job market. “Recently, a job fair in Canada attracted lots of people to line up, with people having to wait for a ticket to enter,” he said. “Some of those with tickets could not even get in before the end of the fair.” Fu of Goldmax Associates said he believed those determined to secure PR status under the pathway had already applied, given finding a job in the country, application processing and relocating to the country could take a

//環凱移民顧問移民項目總監周凱婷向本報指,雖未知新措施的執行細節,但估計主要針對低技術勞工,他們日後就算有加拿大當地「野雞大學」取錄,亦可能不獲簽證。但本港優秀學生,有專業技術的中產人士等,則不受影響。// 資料來源:https://paper.stheadline.com/index.php?product=Headline&issue=20240323&vol=2024032300&token=0887c88a0f43751e&page=1

//環凱移民顧問周凱婷就認為,不少香港年輕人選擇前往澳洲留學,此次政策的收緊導致一些英文較弱的學生較難申請到簽證。她又指,再加上澳洲引入「真正學生考試」,希望藉此篩選人才,提升移民的質素,會對港人將來申請前往澳洲留學或移民之路造成影響。// 資料來源:https://paper.stheadline.com/index.php?product=Headline&issue=20240322&vol=2024032201&token=06884490f236dcb5&page=4

HK migrants’ UK tax shield to be abolished

//Goldmax Immigration director Benny Cheung Ka-hei said it was understandable for the UK to impose a tighter taxation policy as other Western countries, including the United States and Australia, have adopted similar measures. Some Hongkongers emigrating to Britain have voiced concerns about the new arrangement, Cheung said. “People are very conflicted sometimes as they wish for perfect welfare and low taxation, which is impossible,” he said. But Cheung said most Hong Kong immigrants were prepared for higher taxes overseas and were usually in good financial condition. He suggested Hongkongers in the UK seek professional advice from accountants. The British Conservative

// 環凱移民顧問有限公司董事張家禧解釋,澳洲的移民政策對港人來說,雖不似英國或加拿大般寬鬆,但不少中產階級會透過「投資移民」或「企業移民」獲取澳洲籍身份,過往亦可在澳洲先上短期課程或英文班,再慢慢透過工作或讀書留低,他預計政策收緊後這些機會將大大減少。 他教路,若選擇去澳洲讀書,須選讀資訊科技或護理等當地人才需求較大的學科,才較容易在畢業後找到僱主擔保並續期簽證。政策收緊後將嚴格審查留學生申請續簽,他指疫後澳洲的經濟仍處於恢復中,想在短時間內找到好工作不容易,故會對部份須時間找到僱主擔保的留學生造成影響,但對「精英」的影響不大。// 資料來源:星島日報

//環凱移民顧問有限公司董事張家禧表示,其實BNO政策開放首兩年,「要走的都走了」,今年收到有關移英查詢,僅去年同期約四分一。趁「5+1」政策到期前「趕尾班車」的心態確實存在,但只佔少數,相信收緊政策未必對移英申請有明顯影響。// 資料來源:https://std.stheadline.com/realtime/article/1968188/%E5%8D%B3%E6%99%82-%E6%B8%AF%E8%81%9E-%E5%A4%A7%E6%A3%8B%E7%9B%A4%EF%B8%B1%E8%8B%B1%E9%A6%96%E7%9B%B8-%E8%B2%A2%E7%8D%BB%E8%AB%96-%E4%BA%AE%E7%B4%85%E7%87%88-%E6%9A%97%E7%A4%BA%E6%B8%AF%E4%BA%BABNO%E7%A7%BB%E8%8B%B1%E5%8A%A0%E8%BE%A3

Hongkongers seeking citizenship through BN(O) visa scheme may face more hurdles under UK plan to cut number of migrants by 300,000 people

//Willis Fu Yiu-wai, immigration director at Hong Kong-based consultants Goldmax Associates, on Tuesday said Hongkongers holding the BN(O) visa in the UK might face challenges providing proof of income if authorities imposed the new requirements on them. “Many Hongkongers opt for part-time jobs like being truck drivers in the UK, and may not have stable income and documents to show they reach the salary threshold,” Fu said. “Some of them live their life only relying on passive income from investments.” … Fu said those applying for BN(O) visas in future might have to first secure a job in the UK
